Tout est dit dans l'entretien - dont voici un extrait - qui a réellement eu lieu à l'automne 2025 entre le critique Arthur R.Rose qui n'existe pas et Robert Barry. Mathieu Copeland y serait-il pour quelque chose? Cette conversation avait pour objet le projet que nous avons montré à Art Basel Paris : chaque jour était consacré à l'une des cinq oeuvres immatérielles que Robert Barry a conçues en 1969, en seulement quelques mois, avec la complicité de ses amis Seth Siegelaub et Lucy Lippard. Au fil des questions, l'artiste y parle du vide, de la mort et du temps...

Ici sont montrées pour la première fois des oeuvres murales déclinant une obsession composée uniquement de lignes droites : un temps en boucle, sans début ni fin, nourri de passé, se chargeant du présent et effleurant l'infini.

...We’re all trapped in time, aren’t we? We can’t escape it. It’s the one great universal force that goes back to the beginning of the universe. We have to use it, as it uses us up. We’re given a certain amount to work with, and then that’s it. Time is really important to me. The work I’m doing now takes the word Time and uses it as a visual element. I like the idea of drawing the letters as straight lines on wood panelling, revealing the natural grain of the wood – which itself suggests the passage of time. Lately, I’ve been using the word Time followed by three dots. It implies that something continues beyond this moment, that there’s more to think about. I like what the word Time means in relation to your life, and to what you’re doing now. I think it has a lot to do with what art is about. Look at the history of art and how it has changed. It’s deeply tied to the nature of time, and to change."
